I do love to sew!!

I just can't seem to get enough of sewing! I love it! I feel like I have accomplished something when I finish sewing a project. Well, most of my sewing projects (not quilts) I accomplish in one day. And it always feels great. And then I want to show everyone!! Well, I was planning on posting this when I did it anyway. I have had some of the materials needed cut out for a long, long, LONG time now. I just needed to cut out the rest and do it! So here it is:

I have no claim to picture taking and that's ok with me. But I must say I do know how to sew. So this "diaper" bag (it will become the church bag as soon as I don't need to call it a diaper bag) consists of 3 pockets on the inside and 2 hooks sewn into the inside as well. There are also 2 side pockets located on the outside. I love the pockets on the inside. And I love that I did the lining in black. I would have lined it in white but I didn't have any white so I just used what I had on hand (I have been trying to do that lately). And I love that I put in 2 hooks! I am not sure where I got the straps from but they had hooks on them so I re-purposed the straps and hooks for the purpose of this bag. I did the straps a little different than I had planned. I wanted it all covered in the material. I sewed the strips of material to the straps on one side and the guessed-amated how much to cut. Well, I cut the fabric too short. So I just folded it in and sewed along the other side. And I love it!! I remember after I made my first bag many (6) years ago and after all was said and done and I had used it for a while that if I were to do it over again I would have done the inside pockets different. The pattern only calls for one pocket on the inside. I knew I wanted more so I did put another on the other side. But I didn't like that they were both the same size. So this time I did the 2 smaller pockets. I have so many more uses for separate smaller pockets. I can't wait to put this bag to use. I don't know if I want to hold out till the baby is born or just go ahead and start taking it to church. I think I would really like to feel like I am using something new after the baby is born. I don't really want it to get dirty before the baby comes. But it is oh so cute!!

And Katie loves it and wants me to make her one as well.... we will see.

And for those that don't frequent my pregnancy blog (and thats ok, you don't have to), I have decided to use cloth diapers this time and I am making the diapers myself. I am really excited about this. I have started making the newborn ones and am very happy with them so far. Just wish I had a newborn to try them out on. Oh well. Here it is, the first one I made:

Hair Cut

Ok now I am somewhat caught up.

Well, Katie and I have been talking for a couple of weeks now about her hair being a problem. Its always in knots, it hurts to brush it because of the knots. If its not braided everyday its in knots, always in her food, static, and on and on! So we looked into where we could donate her hair. I have always done locks of love but then found out they charge cancer patients for the wigs. But my sister knew of a company that gives the cancer patients the wigs for free. So I found out from here what company it was and it is Pantene Beautiful Lengths. Sold. And they only require a minimum of 8 inches. Not 10. So we got Katie's hair washed and freshly clean, tied it in a rubber band. I measured and said we could do 10 or go down to 8 and Katie chose 10.

Please pardon the unsightly background. Its just where we did the cutting so Katie could watch.

Leo became my photographer for the cutting. He's not so good with making sure it's focused.

And WHOPPIN' 11 INCHES!!!!

So this profile of hers LOOKS JUST LIKE ME AS A KID!!!!
Holding her hair.

After all is said and done and all evened up.
She looks nine now... and that's less than a month away!

She has been thrilled about it all day!! She carried a little brush around the house, all day...
This could have been a better picture (below) if I were a better photographer. I wanted to capture what she looked like from where I was sitting because she just looked so darn cute, but I had to zoom in. So picture quality is awful. So I got up to take the picture close and something about it had changed when I moved closer. I didn't know what it was till just a few min. ago.
When I got closer she had shoved her hair behind her ears and it totally changed the look altogether.
SEE WHAT I MEAN!!

But she is adorable and she loves it!! And I love that she loves it. I guess since I never got a chance to have long hair like her as a kid I didn't ever like my hair if it was above my shoulders after a cut.

She even moves her head differently now.

Its fun to watch.

Christmas 2012

I know I let down all my fans... yeah ok. This year I was just too much into other things (like not feeling the best) to post our Christmas Eve activities. It was a bit more laid back but still way fun with the cousins!

My brother doing his cross fit training a few days after the blizzard hit.

My ADORABLE little nephew!

The father of said ADORABLE little nephew.

(And she usually doesn't like her picture taken)

Adorable little nephew decorating cookies!!

My Mom and I bought the PJ's on different days and I didn't know she had bought the baby the same kind until after I decided to get them for Simon. It was way cute. Leo wanted to know why he didn't get matching ones.

The gang. I was a little late taking the picture after my Sister-in-law and they were ready to move.

Katie was thrilled Santa brought her a Furby!

Nephew was way more interested in Simon's R/C car!

New games for the boys... might I add nice distraction for them so I can get a few more min. of shut eye.

Do you know why kids love cuties?
Because they make kids smile. Simon had like 7 in one day. And yes they are way easy to peel. They will be a permanent in our home!

I sort of tried to keep him awake but he was SOOOO tired.

She took him from me sleeping. It was the only time he let Grandma hold him willingly!! She was thrilled to finally get a little snuggle time in.

Our Halloween

I know this is late but I have to post it because it is was cute!!

My adorable superman didn't want to leave his shirt unbuttoned because then people would know who he was. My sill boy!!

I think this was the first year Hugh was more willing (wanting) to get into the fun.
